How It Works!

You may be taking this   for several reasons.
  • You are taking this course voluntarily to receive a 3-point credit on your Idaho Driver's License record. The Idaho Transportation Department Division of Motor Vehicles allows you to take this course for a 3-point credit once every three (3) years.
  • You may need to take it to satisfy a court order.
  • Students who satisfactorily complete this course may now also get insurance premium reductions. Individuals should contact their insurance companies to advise as to whether or not they offer this discount for their customers.
  • Your employer requires you to attend a Defensive Driving Course.

To satisfy a defensive driving course requirement, you must complete all of the online sessions of the Defensive Driving School online and then pass the final exam.

INSTRUCTIONS - HOW TO COMPLETE THIS ONLINE PROGRAM AND THE FINAL EXAM:

  1. To begin, return to our home page and click on the "Sign Up" button or on the "Sign Up (New?)" link in our menu section.
  2. Select your course.
  3. Fill out the Registration form.
  4. Review the information and click the register button.
  5. The list of sections will appear. Click on the "start course" button to begin learning!
  6. After completing each chapter of the program you will take a short quiz.
  7. After passing each quiz you will continue on to the next chapter.

  8. You should receive a certificate of completion in your email within 24 hours. Except for Sundays and major holidays, certificates are processed once per day, no exceptions!
  9. You must complete the course within 60 days (2 months) of your registration for the course.  After 60 days, your login information will be removed from our databases and you will have to RE-register to begin again.
  10. Remember, you can complete the course at your own pace logging on and off as many times as necessary to complete the course within that period.

*Please note that you can exit and re-enter the program at your own convenience. Our student progress monitoring feature allows you to pick up exactly where you left off.

*Failure to follow these steps will delay reporting your completion to the DMV or Court.
